Deer Park CAMPING

Deer Park is our original site, housing the main car park, residential buildings and a large camping field. The Deer Park camping pitches can be booked for residential or day visits. Please visit our day visits - outdoor page for more information on short term bookings.

key information

Our Deer Park site is a great place to camp with your group. Groups outside of Girlguiding will need to confirm that all adults attending with their group have a current valid DBS check in place.

There are three camping pitches on the Deer Park site. They are all on the same field and are referred to as the near, middle and far sites:
  • the near site is closest to the main buildings and is often booked out along with the Assembly Hall.
  • the middle site is used for the Tented Village from May to September.
  • the far pitch is furthest from the main building, at the end nearest the manor.
Each is spacious enough for large groups.

There is a drinking water tap at either end of the field and on the outside of the toilet block.
Fridges and freezers are available for groups to use.  Ice blocks are also available and can be borrowed free of charge.

The toilet block is situated about half way along the field and is easily accessed by all three pitches. Facilities are shared and groups should work together to provide a cleaning schedule during their stay. There is one accessible toilet.

There are four showers within the main toilet facilities, plus an accessible shower.

The near pitch has a hard shelter but with no electricity.
The middle pitch has a hard shelter behind the toilet block, which also has electricity.
The far pitch does not have a hard shelter or electricity but is supplied with a mess tent for shelter.

Vehicles are not permitted to drive across the field.
  • For group leaders who are staying on the middle pitch (Tented Village) or far site, parking is available in the overflow car park, which is on the grass near these campsites. This is only available when the ground is not wet and when it is safe to do so.
  • For group leaders who are staying on the near pitch, parking is available in the main car park.
  • All other members of the group and all visitors must use the main car park.
Trolleys are available to help move tents and equipment.

Altar fires, camp fire circles and patrol cooking areas are available.
